Fruit & Vegetable leathers~~~Using a food dehydrator!!
Namaste!
I’m Nina and this is a great way to use your pulp from the juicer. I love juicing and I hate wasting food.
Pulp can be used to thicken stews and soups. You can use pulp for spreads on your crackers and breads. You can also use pulp to bake into your bread!
I love doing the above, but, for the children in our lives, the fruit leathers or “roll-ups” are fun and tasty.
The time it takes to make the leather is variant depending on the overall humidity, the machine, you elevation, and the thickness of your pulp and its water content.
Add a little lemon juice and stir to keep fruits from browning. You can also use pectin…or nothing at all. Browning isn’t going to take away the taste; I just looks pretty with brighter colors.
Only add a little bit of lemon or lime juice…like a 1/4 teaspoon.
Spread your pulp evenly on a piece of foil, wax paper or cling wrap that was already arranged on your dehydrator shelf.
Turn on your dehydrator and check the food hours later. The longer you dry food, the firmer it will be, the idea is to have this fruit and vegetable leather to be soft and pliable; so, use your discernment on the amount of time.
Only fresh cut fruits and vegetables take a longer time (24 hours in some cases), pulp usually takes about 1/4 of that time or much less.
I only made a small amount for this video, but, if I were to have filled all 4 or 5 racks, I may have needed to keep food on there for the entire day.
Please contact me with your comments and questions.
Thanks for watching
and thank you so much for your
encouragement!

The pulps are amazing! I have been able to use the pulps recently in this awesome bean soup I made. Even our children loved it and the flavors were awesome!!! If I can be of any help or anything, please contact me any time…thank you so much for making my day with your story! Nina
I got a dehydrator …
22I got a dehydrator from a thrift store and searched on here to see how to use it. I was really glad to see your video. Your idea of using pulp to thicken things like soups is so valuable to me. My mom cannot swallow thin liquids and needs to use thickener(her life depends on it). Pulp from fruits and vegetables would be a much better idea and so much healthier.
this looks yummy

i will probably make this soon because i have 3 dehydraters
what I usually do …
I hope that is of some help. I love dehydrating, as a matter of fact, I think I will be making some with carrots and pears this weekend!!
take care!
24what I usually do is dry the pulp, place in a zipper bag…if I have made a bunch, I’ll freeze the excess in freezer containers with wax paper between them, that lasts months and months…as long as you don’t see mold; it’s good.
Oh, thanks for …
25Oh, thanks for watching my video! Your question is a good one…here’s what I’ve discovered from trial and error. The dried fruit and vegetable pulp should be fine for a month or so in a very dry container in room temperature…but, it all depends on the moisture level. If there is even a hint of moisture; it will have a shorter lifespan. So, what you will want to do is make sure to dehydrate very well or consume it by 4 to 6 weeks. Some freeze it after drying, that works well
